Skandia Welcomes James Barnes as New Executive Vice President and CFO

Davis Junction, Illinois August 19, 2014 Skandia, Inc., has hired James J. Barnes to be the company’s Executive Vice President and CFO. Working closely with Gary Palmer, Skandia’s President, Barnes’ main objective is to manage growth for Skandia as a leading global company in the aircraft interiors and engineering arena.

Prior to joining Skandia, Barnes spent many years in a similar capacity with a multi-state aviation management company that included charter, FBO and maintenance facilities, growing and enhancing its operations.

Barnes academic training is in areas of finance and management as a CPA, CMA (Certified Management Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) and CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor). His professional experience has focused on the development of strategic vision and direction, enhancing organizational performance through improving and streamlining processes, expanding dynamic communication across and down the organization and developing and coordinating key players.

Since joining Skandia Mr. Barnes has been working with department managers to fine tune the performance of their teams. “When working with departments that are already functioning at a high level, it can be helpful to have a fresh perspective to identify opportunities for improvement. Skandia is a small, fast moving company that emphasizes quality. I’m here to help make that even better.”

In addition to organic growth, Skandia is also looking for strategic acquisition opportunities, an activity Jim Barnes will help drive. “While not without risks, acquisitions can be a very effective way to accelerate growth,” explained Barnes.
