New Apprenticeship Trade as Electronics Technician for Devices and Systems

Nov. 6, 2015

Lufthansa Technik AG will for the first time offer twelve apprenticeship vacancies as "Electronics Technician for Devices and Systems" for the 2016 training year in Hamburg. With this move, the company is acknowledging the increasing significance of electronics for worldwide commercial aircraft. The new profession supplements the large number of apprenticeship vacancies for avionic technicians offered traditionally by Lufthansa Technik. Applications are being accepted straight away at www.be-lufthansa.com/technik.

"While traditional avionic technicians are primarily deployed directly in aircraft maintenance and overhaul operations, the new profession is more geared toward the requirements of specialized workshops for maintaining the highest quality systems and components," says Barbara Koerner, Head of Central Training Management at Lufthansa Technik.

Lufthansa Technik has numerous workshops in Hamburg for inspecting, repairing and modifying flight guidance equipment and radio equipment, for example, as well as drives, encoders, controllers and instruments. The highest standards of knowledge and precision are demanded. Even the smallest solder connections and individual electronic components on printed circuit boards are inspected and repaired for example. Cutting-edge test equipment is provided to carry out these tasks, some of which has been developed by employees of Lufthansa Technik itself.

"This profession is especially well suited to young people who enjoy working independently on complex tasks in addition to having a strong interest in mathematics and physics. Patience and a willingness to engage intensively with new topics are likewise important foundations as well as team spirit," emphasizes Joerg Niebuhr, Shop Manager Avionics for radar systems at Lufthansa Technik. His responsibilities also include maintenance of weather radar, Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System and TCAS.
