Washington, DC, March 21, 2016 ­– The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) today welcomed Congressional passage of legislation to extend current FAA programs and funding through July 15. The extension is needed to give both the House and Senate additional time to reach agreement on a long-term FAA reauthorization bill.

"This FAA extension was a necessary step, and we thank House and Senate leaders for ensuring that current FAA programs and funding continue as lawmakers in both chambers work on respective long-term FAA reauthorization measures," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen.

Last week, the Senate Commerce Committee reported out S.2658, the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2016, for full Senate consideration. Senate leaders hope to schedule Senate floor action in early April. NBAA strongly supports this bi-partisan measure, which rejects calls for privatizing the nation’s aviation system, funded by new user fees, and overseen by an airline-dominated board of directors. Learn more about S.2658, and NBAA's support for the legislation.

The pending House FAA Reauthorization measure, H.R. 4441, was reported out by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on Feb. 11. The House bill would create a privatized aviation system, funded by user fees and overseen by an airline-centric board.
