RAA Summer Seminars Offer Two-Day, Three Stream Program
RAA Summer Seminars offers airline human resources, inflight and drug & alcohol testing professionals three professional streams of content, featuring subject matter expert briefings and peer discussions, while also offering valuable networking opportunities essential for keeping new and veteran management current on the latest legal guidelines and best practices on a range of professional topics.
Highlights from the two-day, three-stream program include:
The Growing Opioid Crisis: All companies, including airlines, could be better equipped to handle the challenge of drug abuse in the workplace. Sarah Wimberly of FordHarrison will discuss how the opioid crisis is affecting the airline industry and how carriers should respond. Sarah will review several case studies, including describing how these actual cases were handled and the results.
Labor Law in the Trump Era: The Trump Administration has brought significant changes to labor and employment law over the past two years. Jacki Thompson of FordHarrison will update attendees on the recent developments affecting regional carriers, as well as what is on the horizon at the U.S. Equal Employment Commission and the Department of Labor.
How AI & Technology Are Changing Talent Acquisition: Talent acquisition technology is changing faster than the regulatory and compliance landscape. As innovations such as blind resume systems, social media recruitment options and artificial intelligence tools seek to improve the talent acquisition process, they also push the limits of the law. Kevin Kraham of Littler Mendelson will discuss how these advances are affecting the airline industry and how they intersect with the law. He will review client experiences in implementing these changes and suggest how airline employers can stay in front of the compliance curve in a fast-changing talent acquisition environment.
Marijuana Legalization & Drug Testing: Dr. Randy Barnett, MD and Chief Medical Review Officer for FSSolutions, will discuss how airlines can navigate drug testing in an era of changing marijuana laws. His update on state marijuana laws will include reports on medical marijuana, marijuana edibles and CBD oil.
Drug Testing Options for Non-Safety Employees: Not all employees at an airline are directly related to functions that affect safety. Does the carrier’s drug testing regime have to be the same for all employees? What are the options for non-safety sensitive employees? Dr. Randy Barnett, MD and Chief Medical Review Officer for FSSolutions, will discuss.
10 Keys to Positive Employee Relations: Employee experience and engagement is a major issue for airlines. Despite the time and money that has been spent on employee engagement, the numbers reflected in surveys of airline employees on job satisfaction have been stagnant and declining. Why are carriers not making progress? What can they do about it? Brad Federman of FH Solutions Group will explore the pivotal components to creating and sustaining best-in-class employee relations.
