April 11, 2023
With a combined approach of classroom and hands-on experience, those who successfully complete the apprenticeship will be considered for full-time positions at Emerald Airlines.

Emerald Airlines, Ireland’s newest regional airline and exclusive operator of the Aer Lingus Regional franchise, today announces its inaugural Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance Apprenticeship. The airline is looking for 6 candidates to partake in this year’s intake. Applications are open now and will close 28 April 2023.

The Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance Apprenticeship is carried out in collaboration with SOLAS, Ireland’s Further Education and Training Authority and Technological University Dublin.

With a combined approach of classroom and hands-on experience, those who successfully complete the apprenticeship will be considered for full-time positions at Emerald Airlines. Successful applicants will split their time between classroom training in both Shannon and Dublin, and on-the-job training at the Emerald Airlines Engineering and Maintenance Facility at Dublin Airport.

Emerald Airlines Apprentices will be working primarily on a fleet of ATR72-600  aircraft  and will get to be part of a small dynamic team working on the turbo prop aircraft.

Aer Lingus Regional flights are operated by the ATR72-600, the latest generation of turboprop aircraft combining unmatched environmental and economic performance. These ultra-low fuel burn aircraft emit up to 40% less CO on these short, regional flights.

Commenting on the announcement, John Redmond, Line Maintenance Manager at Emerald Airlines, said: “We are delighted to be officially launching our Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance Apprenticeship. This programme would be of particular interest to those interested in pursuing a career in the aviation industry, more specifically within Engineering and Maintenance departments. We are thrilled to be providing a select number of candidates with an unmissable opportunity at Ireland’s newest regional airline.

Throughout your time as an Emerald Airlines apprentice, successful candidates will complete academic studies at both Shannon Aviation School & TUD, while also gaining practical work experience at the Emerald Airlines Hangar Facilities. This will include servicing and testing systems, troubleshooting defects, replacing components. We look forward to guiding successful candidates through our apprenticeship, providing experienced industry mentors to support them throughout their journey.”
