Eduardo Angeles Joins Cal State LA as Adjunct Professor of Aviation Law
CSULA is home to a leading Bachelor of Science degree program in Aviation Administration that combines a hands-on learning environment with industry-driven curriculum to prepare students for successful careers in the aviation industry. The university is also home to an active student chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). Membership is open to all current CSULA students interested in a future within the aviation industry, regardless of college major.
“We are deeply honored to have such a talented individual, renowned attorney and respected industry expert share his knowledge and experience with our students,” said Keith Mew, Ph.D., Chair of the CSULA Aviation Administration Program. “Eduardo Angeles is an amazing role model for the next generation of aviation industry executives who will assume leadership positions in both the public and private sectors.”
At CSULA, Angeles joins fellow AAAE colleagues Randall Berg, a 30-year adjunct professor and former AAAE Chair, and Aeroplex/Aerolease Group CEO Curt Castagna, a 25-year adjunct professor and recently-appointed member of the L.A. County Aviation Commission.
As the FAA’s Associate Administrator for Airports from 2014 to 2016, Angeles oversaw $3.5 billion in annual airport improvement grants and managed programs for national airport planning and development. He was the first Filipino-American to receive a presidential appointment to that position.
In his current role as Senior Assistant City Attorney, Angeles is assigned by the L.A. City Attorney’s Office to the Legal Division of LAWA, the agency responsible for the operation and governance of Los Angeles International and Van Nuys Airports. He also had stints as General Counsel to LAWA from 2002 to 2006, Special Counsel to the L.A. City Council from 2006 to 2010, and as Senior Assistant City Attorney assigned to the L.A. Department of Water and Power from 2010 to 2014.
Prior to moving to L.A., Angeles served in the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office where he was assigned to the San Francisco International Airport’s Legal Division. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Angeles also previously served as an adjunct faculty member at Loyola Law School in L.A. and a member of the State Bar of California’s Committee of Bar Examiners. He was an elected school board member on the Jefferson Union High School Governing Board of Trustees and a Governor Brown appointee to the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
