Women in Aviation International has a regional conference planned in Seattle, Washington, September 16-17, 2016. The two-day regional conference will be held at Seattle’s famed Museum of Flight and the Seattle Airport Marriott and begins with a tour of the Boeing Company headquarters.

The tour of the historic Boeing assembly plant in Renton provides a product overview covering 1.1 million square feet where more than 1,100 B-29 WWII and 900 C-97 post WWII piston-propeller airplanes were built. All Boeing Puget Sound 7-series single-aisle jet era airplanes have been produced there; these include all 707, 727, 737 and 757 models, and current production aircraft including the 737-700, 737-800, and 737-900ER. The new 737 MAX production line debuted less than a year ago at the Renton facility.

Speakers for Saturday, September 16 include Sherry Carbary, vice president-flight services for Boeing Commercial Airplanes; Andrea Schneider, vice president of inflight services for Alaska Airlines; Suzanna Darcy-Hennemann on her world record flight; Author Colleen Mondor; and the Skunkworks Robotic Team from Seattle’s Aviation High School.

“Seattle is the perfect locale for a regional conference because of its rich aviation heritage,” said Women in Aviation International President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. “We’re looking forward to two days of lively discussion and inspiration, and joining the folks from Boeing in celebrating their 100th anniversary.”

Seattle’s Museum of Flight has two exhibits of particular interest to WAI members: the WASP exhibit and one celebrating Boeing’s 100th anniversary.

Online registration is available at www.wai.org. Attendees can purchase an entire conference packet or select individual events and meals, and may register at WAI.org. The WAI Regional Conference is open to WAI members and non-members alike.
