PLYMOUTH – An adjunct professor in Cape Cod Community College’s Aviation Maintenance Technology Program was honored last week by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Robert “Bob” Nelson received the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award which recognizes lifetime achievement for aircraft mechanics with at least 50 years of continuous service.
It is the highest honor for individuals in the aviation maintenance field.
Nelson was presented the award at the Bi-Annual FAA Inspectors Authorization Meeting at Plymouth Municipal Airport last Tuesday. The award was presented by Ron Curtis, the manager of the FAA’s Flight Standards District Office in Boston, in the college’s aviation training facility hangar.
The ceremony was attended by several students, faculty, and airplane mechanics and inspectors from the region.
