AUGUST 10, 2020 - New Smyrna Beach, Fla. – Epic Flight Academy took ownership of two brand new Cessna 172 Skyhawks last week. They planes came directly from the Cessna factory in Kansas. During a time when other businesses are struggling, Epic continues to adapt and thrive. Additionally, Epic signed six new partnership agreements with potential employers to benefit graduates of its aircraft mechanic program. Aerotek, American Aero Services, Ascent Aviation Services, Baker Aviation, Southern Airways Express, and STS Aviation Group have all signed letters of agreement to offer interview opportunities to Epic’s graduating mechanics.
“These are both exciting announcements,” said Danny Perna, founder and CEO of Epic. “We pride ourselves on maintaining a safe, new fleet and expanding our network in the aviation community.”
Epic customizes its aircraft with its unique logo and N number, or tail number, which always begins with ‘EP’. The fleet’s tails are a recognizable bright red, so the tails on the new planes will be painted this week.
“The red tails came about after we had painted some of our tails pink for breast cancer awareness,” said Josh Rawlins, COO. “So many people commented on its distinctiveness and how easy it was to spot in the air. We later switched to bright red as a safety factor, and now the red tails make Epic’s planes really stand out in flight.” The flight school even hosts a redtail fishing tournament each fall to support its annual aviation scholarship awards.
“The Cessna 172 is the safest and most reliable training aircraft manufactured, which is why we have so many and continue to purchase new aircraft to replace older aircraft,” Rawlins continued. “We are always in the process of updating our fleet, which includes the 172, Piper Seminoles, and of course flight simulators.”
