Coronavirus Restrictions Hammer Flight Schools

While Colorado recognized airports as critical infrastructure and allowed them to continue operations during the state’s COVID-19 response, state and local county mandates tied the wings of flight-training schools.

Gov. Jared Polis’ shelter-in-place order ended April 26, and during its month-long run, flight schools could not train aspiring pilots. The order allowed for currency flights, a Federal Aviation Administration required practice for licensed pilots to fly every 90 days to keep their skills sharp.
