Company Donates Jet to GTCC
Jun. 13—TRIAD — A Davidson County aircraft maintenance company will donate a jet to the aviation program at Guilford Technical Community College.
Sky Aviation Holdings, which is based in Lexington and opened Sky Aircraft Maintenance at the Davidson County Airport in October, will present a 1984 Diamond IA A073SA jet, with full engines and avionics systems, to the GTCC Foundation on Tuesday, the college announced. The aircraft is valued at $255,000.
The airplane will provide students an opportunity to get hands-on experience on a full-scale aircraft while working toward FAA mechanic certification.
Sky Aviation also is donating the fuselage section from a Diamond Jet with a full avionics package valued at $100,000, which will be used in the GTCC's Aviation Electronics Systems Program.
Sky Aircraft Maintenance specializes in Beechjet, Learjet, and Hawker aircraft with service to jet engines and aircraft interior completions.
