Fort Lauderdale, FL, July 21, 2025 – Associated Aircraft Manufacturing & Sales, Inc. (“AAMSI”), a subsidiary of First Aviation Services Inc., announced today they are expanding their Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) portfolio by leveraging the capabilities of First Aviation’s other subsidiaries to expand its offerings beyond sophisticated electronic components and systems. The company’s expanded capabilities now include electromechanical and hydraulic components, pressure vessels, phenolic materials, EMS, wire harnesses, lighting, rotor blades and propellers. AAMSI has been a recognized leader in DMSMS for analog and digital electronic LRUs for over four decades supporting such military aircraft as F-15, F-16, F-18, T-38, P-3, T-46A, UH-60, C-130, B-2, and B-52. This expansion will allow AAMSI to provide more solutions to its valued customer base.

AAMSI, along with its sister companies, holds DOD source approvals for both manufacturing and depot-level repair, as well as FAA Supplemental Type Certificates (STC), Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) at three locations, and Designated engineering Representation (DER) with over 1,500 combined solutions company wide. AAMSI’s in-house extensive test capabilities include burn-in stations, power cycle test frames, XRF, high voltage testing, 3-axis random vibration systems capability to 20g, BIT testing, anechoic testing, and crypto testing, among others. AAMSI has the expertise to manufacture test equipment in support of DMSMS programs.

For the Department of Defense, DMSMS is a significant issue because it involves the loss or impending loss of source-controlled manufacturers or suppliers of items or raw materials that are critical for military systems and operations. When a component, material, or part is no longer produced—due to reasons like rapid technological change, uneconomical production, environmental regulations, or limited market demand the DoD may be unable to repair, maintain, or procure essential equipment and systems. This, in turn, negatively impacts the operational readiness of mission critical assets for the Warfighter.

The problem today is being further exacerbated by several factors. Our aircraft, ships and land vehicles are operating far longer than their estimated lifecycles, not only under increased budget pressure but delays in new aircraft deliveries. OEMs often, by necessity, need to move on to the next-generation platform, and have overhead and staffing structures that make it difficult to support these fleets during the later years of the life cycle. At the same time, technology is advancing at a much faster pace resulting in critical components reaching end of life in the early phases of production.

Paul Bolton, President of COO of First Aviation said, “We have been a trusted source of DMSMS solutions to such OEMs as Boeing, Lockheed, and Northop Grumman as well as DLA and foreign operators do to our agility and creativity.” Abdel Dominguez, GM & VP of AAMSI added, “We have a very deep capability list, and the support of First Aviation’s other subsidiaries will expand our offerings even further.”
