IDEMIA, the global identity leader and long-time authorized TSA PreCheck enrollment provider, announced Monday, May 2 the deployment of a new TSA PreCheck enrollment initiative at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) in Louisville, KY that provides TSA PreCheck enrollment to travelers as they depart for their trip with no need for an appointment. This new, simplified initiative delivers TSA PreCheck enrollment in five minutes or less, and most passengers will receive their Known Traveler Number (KTN) within three to five days.

This TSA Precheck initiative was first launched at Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) in Mississippi in March 2022. Just in time for the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby, this initiative will be available from May 5 through May 16. IDEMIA enrollment teams will be stationed throughout the airport with carts equipped to enroll passengers for TSA PreCheck.

“This is a game changer that simplifies TSA PreCheck enrollment, and we are rolling this out to travelers during one of Louisville’s busiest travel periods of the year,” said Lisa Sullivan, SVP, travel and transport for IDEMIA I&S North America. “IDEMIA is the pioneer in identity verification and validation technologies and our innovations are streamlining the TSA PreCheck enrollment process for travelers. IDEMIA plays a pivotal role in all aspects of the secure identification of travelers throughout their whole airport experience.”

IDEMIA enrollment agents and brand ambassadors will be stationed throughout the airport in easy-to-spot uniforms to increase awareness of the service and to assist passengers with TSA PreCheck enrollment. IDEMIA will be testing this new service in the pre-security area of the airport. Travelers who enroll in the program on-site at SDF will also be able to use their new TSA PreCheck security check-in process for their flight on the day they enroll.

“Travelers have told us they want a more accessible TSA PreCheck enrollment process, and we are working with our enrollment provider, IDEMIA to deliver,” commented Tom Bechtol, acting TSA federal security director for the state of Kentucky. “In March 2022, 94 percent of TSA PreCheck passengers waited less than five minutes in line. By making TSA PreCheck enrollment more accessible, more people can take advantage of a smoother airport security screening process and can also keep their shoes and belts on and leave their compliant liquids and laptops in their bag.”

“As the world’s eyes are on Louisville this week for the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby, we’re happy that Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport can play an integral role in making air travel more secure and more efficient for travelers,” said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer.

“We are extremely pleased to have TSA PreCheck powered by IDEMIA available to travelers at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, especially during one of the most busy travel periods in Kentucky – Derby time,” said Commissioner Mike Mangeot with the Kentucky Department of Tourism. “This is a great opportunity for the millions of passengers and visitors the airport experiences. Travelers will be able to take advantage of smoother airport screening processes the same day they sign up enhancing their travel experience.” “We are glad that SDF is an early adopter of this new and important evolution of TSA PreCheck enrollment,” said Dan Mann, executive director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority. “Anytime we can offer travelers an opportunity to enhance their airport experience is a win for us and our community. We look forward to learning how best to deliver this new service for people traveling to and from our region.”
