Woman Accused of Running Over SFPD Sergeant's Foot During SFO Incident

A 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault on a police officer and auto theft after she ran over a San Francisco police sergeant’s foot during an incident at San Francisco International Airport last month, officials said Wednesday.

Officers from the police department’s airport bureau arrested Ananda Butler after responding to the rental car center around 7:20 a.m. on Feb. 26 for a report of a trespasser who had locked herself inside of a car, according to San Francisco police.

Using a marked police car, officers tried to block Butler from driving out of a parking space. But after approximately 20 minutes, Butler started the car and reversed into a concrete wall, running over the sergeant’s foot with the left rear tire as he tried to back away, authorities said.

The sergeant was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Butler then changed directions, moving a parked car out of the way and drove about 25 yards before colliding with a concrete wall, police said.

She was arrested and booked in San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault on a police officer, auto theft, trespassing and a warrant for violating her probation on a prior auto theft.
