Bird Strike Causes Plane to Return to NAIA

July 18, 2019

A Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) plane bound for Cagayan de Oro was forced to return to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) because of bird strike. An airport operations official said CEB flight 5J381, which took off at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, encountered bird strike. The pilot in command informed the Manila Control Tower that it was returning back to NAIA and requested for clearance to land. Reports said the CEB plane landed safely at NAIA at around 4:17 a.m. Former presidential spokesman Harry Roque, who was among the passengers of flight 5J381, posted on his Facebook that “there was a delay in take-off, then an explosion of sorts, smell of smoke and flight now returning to Manila.”
