The Department of Civil Aviation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar (DCA Myanmar) has now completed its planned ICAO AIS to AIM roadmap modernisation by installing the Comsoft Solutions AIM system and Frequentis SmartCharting tool.

“DCA Myanmar are pleased to have completed this essential AIM modernisation with Comsoft Solutions, ensuring that we continue delivering safe, efficient, reliable and secure civil aviation services in light of increasing traffic numbers. Increased tourism highlighted the need for airspace optimisation and we are now also prepared for the crucial changeover from Aeronautical Information Services (AIS), ensuring the consistent management of aeronautical information and a higher quality of data, fully in line with the ICAO AIS to AIM roadmap.” says Nyunt Win, Director Safety DCA Myanmar.

Myanmar saw international air passengers increase by over 65% between 2012 and 2015. Additionally, the country expects to reach 7.5 million tourists by 2020, which also confirmed the need for a modernised air traffic infrastructure. By migrating all AIS into a harmonised, digital data presentation; the integrity and consistency of aeronautical information is dramatically increased while the efforts for service delivery are reduced.

“The tight integration of the Comsoft Solutions AIM system and the Frequentis SmartCharting tool has enabled Myanmar to deploy the system in a fast and efficient manner emphasising the advantage of using the integrated suite of AIM applications from the Frequentis Group. As part of the Frequentis Group, we offer our customers complementary AIM products from our market-leading AIM product portfolio,” Ulrich Kaage, Comsoft Solutions AIM Business Unit Manager.

Information management of AIXM 5.1 Aeronautical data, NOTAM, and flight planning, including pre-flight briefing services, are provided by Comsoft Solutions advanced CADAS products. Data driven Aeronautical charting is based on the GIS SmartCharting tool from Frequentis. Local Myanmar company CARPE DIEM Ltd supported a timely completion.
