Light Plane Crashes at Santa Barbara Airport

At approximately 1:30 p.m. Nov. 17, Santa Barbara City Airport Firefighters responded to a light plane crash at the Santa Barbara Airport. 

The Cessna aircraft crash landed on the belly of the plane and slid to a stop.  The cause of the crash is under investigation.  There was severe damage to the belly of the plane and the prop.  The fuel tank was full of fuel and had a small leak as a result of the crash. 

The pilot was the only person on board and reported no injuries.  Santa Barbara City Airport Firefighters contained the fuel leak and assisted with the removal of the plane from the runway.
