SD: Grassfire Burns 3 Acres at Spearfish Airport Saturday

SPEARFISH — A spark from a swather, a farm implement used to cut hay, started a small grassfire Saturday at the Black Hills Airport-Clyde Ice Field, and the Spearfish Fire Department contained the burn to approximately three acres.

Fire Chief Mark Sahara said that the call came in at about 3:30 p.m., and 10 firefighters, three brush trucks, and a water tender responded. Fire personnel were on scene for about two hours.
