The City of Dallas is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick Carreno as Director of Aviation to oversee Dallas Love Field (DAL), Dallas Executive Airport (RBD), and the Dallas Vertiport (JDB). Previously, Carreno served as Assistant Director of Operations and Interim Director for the Department.

Under Carreno’s leadership as Interim Director, DAL renewed its Level 3 Airport Carbon Accreditation by meeting stringent carbon management strategies and engaging its partners in carbon footprint measurements. Additionally, DAL advanced an exclusive partnership with Dallas-based JetWind Power Corporation and joined the Hidden Disabilities Program. The combination of these initiatives drives the airport’s safety, sustainability, and inclusivity efforts to position the Department at the top of the aviation industry.

“I am honored to be given this opportunity to serve as the Director for the Department of Aviation. I am excited to be a part of the dynamic leadership team assembled here, and I am committed to continuing the advancement of the Department’s key priorities,” said Carreno.

Since joining the City of Dallas in December 2021, Carreno has overseen Airport Security, Airside Operations, and Landside Operations, including Terminal Operations and Passenger Support, Ground Transportation, Emergency Management, Transportation Regulation, and the Airport Operations Center divisions.

Before joining the City of Dallas, Carreno served as a Vice President for Allegheny County Airport Authority where he was responsible for oversight of Airport Operations, Field Maintenance, and Security Departments at Pittsburgh International Airport. Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management from the Florida Institute of Technology and a commercial pilot’s license, Carreno brings over 20 years of aviation experience in various roles at airports and airlines.
