The Weitz Company Selected to Construct a Multi-Modal Connector Pedestrian Bridge and Rental Car Lobby at the Orlando International Airport
The Weitz Company has been selected by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) to complete the MCO Terminal C Multi-Modal Connector Pedestrian Bridge and Rental Car Lobby after the board approved the next steps on the project including an estimated $113 million in construction costs and approximately 65,206 SF.
This design-build project will primarily focus on the construction of an approximately 450 ft. long pedestrian walkway that is elevated, enclosed, and conditioned and an adjacent rental car lobby area on the north side that will directly connect the new Terminal C with the existing multi-modal facility to serve up to four forms of passenger rail and all forms of public and private ground transportation. The project will include rental car counters and queuing areas, multi-use information displays, interior landscaping, and preservation of all future capabilities for baggage rights-of-way and connection to future facilities and parking facilities.

The Weitz Company brings forth a one-team approach with a design team including Rhodes + Brito, Ramski Interior Design, TLC Engineering, Base, and Avcon. The company also secured national and local partners to partake in an excelling level of DBE participation.
The Terminal C Multi-Modal Connector Pedestrian Bridge & Rental Car Lobby procurement and design will occur in 2023-2025. Construction will begin in 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2025. Upon completion, the project will provide accessibility for all individuals by including elevators, escalators, stairs, and four moving walkways – all compliant with the Americans and Disabilities Act. The newly built project will provide travelers convenient access to Terminal C, the Train Station, and the Terminal Link people mover connected to the North Terminal and Parking Lot C.
This is only the beginning for Orlando International Airport after embarking on a multi-year Capital Improvement Program. The construction of Terminal C Landside and Airside Terminal Facilities (Phase 1 and Phase 1 Expansion). “More importantly, as we implement this pedestrian bridge, are the number of items we put back, including the moving walkways, building out the rental car lobby the way it needed to be, and using a new procurement process that got us to the best technical with the lowest price,” said Kevin Thibault, GOAA Chief Executive Officer.
