Self-care may not factor into your travel plans, especially with schedules and carry-ons packed tighter than ever. ROAM Fitness restores that precious breathing room today’s traveler craves, in a welcoming environment for fitness and fun.

ROAM Fitness’ upscale airport gym and wellness concept first took off at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) in 2017, where pre-pandemic success led to planning a second location. Fast forward to 2023, and ROAM Fitness has now opened its second location post-security, in Terminal F at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL).

Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Day passes are available for $25 and annual memberships are $35 per month—including access to all equipment, facilities, and amenities. Advance reservations can be made online at roamfitness.com or at the ROAM front desk upon arrival.

What makes ROAM unexpected is the level of personalization available at such a nontraditional venue. Travelers can borrow, buy, or bring their workout attire. Rental lululemon apparel and Brooks running shoes are complimentary for all guests. If you prefer to purchase something new, there is an extensive stock of lululemon, available at airports through ROAM, and other retail brands include: Beyond Yoga Girlfriend Collective and Rhone. If you choose to wear your own clothes, ROAM can vacuum-seal sweaty gear after your workout, so odors don’t follow. Additionally, products from high-performance wellness technology leader Hyperice are available to demo. Using a variety of modalities, such as percussion, heat, contrast, vibration, and dynamic air compression, the Hyperice products help relieve tension, unlock sore muscles, and prime your body to be at its best throughout your journey. Travel and wellness accessories from RAINSS’well and KINTO are also for sale.

“Our largest facility to date will showcase an expansion in variety and total number of exercise stations, including the latest and greatest in technology integrated feedback and connected coaching platforms, that have become the vanguard of any workout experience,” said Ty Manegold, ROAM Fitness co-founder.

When in ROAM … at PHL

ROAM’s approximately 1,500 square-foot gym features state-of-the-art equipment such as Technogym treadmills; spin, recumbent and upright bikes; and an elliptical. The same equipment is found in the Olympic Village training centers, luxury five-star resorts and spas around the world. There’s a Trueform Runner, Hydrow rower and lululemon Studio Mirror containing a large library of workouts: 10,000+ classes on demand, 60+ genres and new live classes daily.

Free weights (Intek and PowerBlock), benches, and a cable machine are available for strength training. Dedicated space is provided for yoga, stretching, and resistance training. Departure displays inside ROAM help travelers keep an eye on flight status or gate changes.

If you’ve never thought about showering at the airport, think again. Four private, individual shower rooms are reservable upon check-in and booked in 15-minute increments, featuring towel service and complimentary Malin+Goetz bath products. Personal lockers are equipped with power to charge devices.

“We couldn't be more excited for PHL travelers to have access to our gym facilities,” said Cynthia Sandall, ROAM Fitness co-founder. “We have plenty of cardio equipment and private shower rooms that can be reserved to ensure you make it to your gate on time.”

A first for the ROAM Fitness brand, the newly opened PHL location will feature an infrared sauna with red light therapy from Perspire Sauna Studio . The single-occupant sauna is reservable at check-in.

“The integration of our full-spectrum infrared sauna and red-light therapy sessions in the bustling Philadelphia International Airport is a testament to the ever-growing need for accessible health options, even on-the-go,” said Lee Braun, CEO and co-founder of Perspire Sauna Studio.

Discounts are offered at ROAM Fitness for active U.S. Military and students. ROAM also partners with other frequent flyer services and fitness studio collectives such as Priority Pass, ClassPass, LoungeBuddy, Dragon Pass, Zeamo, FitReserve, Gympass, Sanctifly, LoungeMe, FlexIt ASHNetwork, and Peerfit.

“We’re excited to welcome ROAM Fitness to our PHL Food & Shops merchant community,” said Vice-President and General Manager of MarketPlace PHL, Mel Hannah. “For anybody stressed about missing their workout on a travel day, it’s now built-in and accessible.”
