ILM exceeded pre-pandemic passenger numbers in 2022 and set a new passenger record for the year, serving 1,086,245 passengers. During calendar year 2022, four airlines provided air service at ILM, American, Avelo, Delta, and United. Throughout the year, American and Delta ungauged aircraft and the ultra-lost cost carrier Avelo started new nonstop service. As a result, ILM consistently ranked above NC and the United States for seats in the market and capacity recovery.

“We’re thrilled passengers chose to FLY ILM, resulting in a record year. Heading into 2023, we have nonstop service to 14 markets and a fifth airline- Sun Country- starting service at ILM this year. We look forward to offering even more choices to travelers and having another successful year!” stated Jeff Bourk, Airport Director.

In 2022, ILM landed two low-cost carriers, Avelo and Sun Country. Delta announced nonstop summer service to Boston and extended LaGuardia to year-round service. Further, American extended Boston’s nonstop season.
