The City of Charlotte Appoints Sonya Williams, PMP, as Technology Services Officer

The City of Charlotte has named Sonya Williams, PMP, as technology services officer. In this position, Ms. Williams will ensure the effective operation of information technology (IT) infrastructure throughout all life-cycle phases to meet the business needs of Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). She began her position in June 2022.

Ms. Williams has been serving in the role of interim CLT Airport technology services officer. An IT professional with experience in leading multimillion dollar projects, she brings a strong background in executive technical leadership, development, integration, and governance. Prior to holding the interim position, Ms. Williams was the aviation technology systems manager for CLT. She has also worked for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, Mecklenburg County, and several private companies.

"It is an honor to be a part of the Charlotte Douglas International Airport team,” said Ms. Williams. “I look forward to making positive contributions to the organization.”

Ms. Williams earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina and her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She went on to earn her master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina. She is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and earned her Yellow Belt Lean Six Sigma.
