Ford Airport Adds Experienced Airport Professional Kevin Delaney to Leadership Team

The Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority has added Kevin Delaney to its senior leadership team as its maintenance and asset management director.

Delaney brings more than two decades of airport experience to his new role, where he will lead the facilities and field maintenance teams, ensuring continual operation and maintenance of the airport’s terminal buildings, concourses, HVAC, electrical and conveyance systems, as well as its runways, taxiways, roadways, snow and ice control, fleet and paving. He will also oversee the airport’s asset management and maintenance programs, ensuring airport operations and maintenance procedures are in compliance with federal regulations, as well as monitoring and managing contractor performance.

Additionally, Delaney will be responsible for the talent development of his teams, providing development opportunities such as performance management, coaching and training. He will supervise a team of 34 full-time and seasonal employees

Delaney joins the Ford Airport after spending seven years at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport, where he served as deputy director of airfield operations, then deputy director of compliance and safety. In these roles, he oversaw the airport’s operating procedures, identifying and minimizing liabilities as well as ensuring airfield operations were in compliance with federal regulations.

In addition to his technical experience, Delaney is an adjunct professor at Kent State University, teaching airport operations for the school’s College of Aeronautics and Engineering.

Prior to his arrival in Detroit, Delaney served in various leadership positions for the Cuyahoga County Airport in Cleveland from 2005-2013. He has also held positions with the McCall Municipal Airport in McCall, Idaho and Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City. Delaney began his career at the Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York.

Delaney holds certifications from the Airports Council International, American Association of Airport Executives and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. He is an advocate for helping others, by volunteering at local a food pantry and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

Delaney holds a bachelor’s degree in aviation and business management from Daniel Webster College in Nashua, New Hampshire.
