Hartsfield-Jackson Receives Multiple Awards

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) was recognized as an industry leader for multiple achievements recently, earning praise for its efforts at diversity inclusion, sustainability, and the career achievements of senior staff. The awards are as follows:

Sustainability

The U.S. Green Building Council Regional Leadership Award

ATL was recognized for prioritizing sustainability in its multibillion-dollar capital improvement program, ATLNext, and creating a robust sustainability program to support those efforts. This year’s winners were announced during the USGBC Live virtual conference June 10.

Diversity

2021 Airports Council International-North America (ACI) Inclusion Champion Award Large Hub Airport.

ATL was recognized for proactive and innovative steps taken by an organization in increasing diverse business partners, workforce diversity, outreach and advocacy. As an industry leader in small, minority and female business participation, ATL’s practices resulted in positive participation in relation to overall procurements. In fiscal year 2020, $97M (19%) was paid to MBEs, $54M (11%) to FBEs, $11M (17%) to DBEs, and ACDBE revenue was $125M (36%). ATL will be presented with the award during a virtual unveiling on July 15.

2021 Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) Airport of the Year

ATL was recognized for its leadership in support of diversity inclusion including significant contributions in support of Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) goals within an airport. As an industry leader in small, minority and female business participation, ATL’s practices resulted in positive participation in relation to overall procurements. ATL was presented with the award on June 15 during the virtual 36th Annual AMAC Airport Business Diversity Conference: Honoring the Legacy, Perfecting the Present & Building for the Future. The conference was held June 14-16.

Career Achievement

The 2021 Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) Pinnacle Award

Myrna White, Assistant General Manager of the Office of Public and International Affairs

Ms. White was recognized for her career achievements and exemplary leadership that have bolstered the aviation community as a whole. The winner was announced on June 16 during the virtual 36th Annual AMAC Airport Business Diversity Conference’s AMAC Foundation Celebrating Women in Aviation program. The conference was held June 14-16.
