June 10, 2021

Oakland International Airport (OAK) welcomed the news that Southwest Airlines will begin nonstop service between the East Bay airport and Bellingham International Airport (BLI) in Washington state beginning November 16, 2021. The flights will operate twice daily aboard Southwest’s fleet of Boeing 737 airliners. Fare and schedule information can be found at Southwest.com.

Bellingham is a popular gateway for those visiting Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. Bellingham is also an intermodal transportation hub offering access to roadway, rail and ferry services to the surrounding area including the San Juan islands. Canadian travelers visiting the U.S. appreciate using the convenient land border into the US allowing for an easy, process-free arrival at OAK.

Bellingham is the sixth destination that Southwest is adding from OAK to the Pacific Northwest. It joins new service to Eugene, Oregon that begins August 29 and existing service to Portland, Seattle, Spokane and Boise.

“We welcome yet another new and exciting nonstop destination from Southwest Airlines at OAK.” said Bryant L. Francis, Port of Oakland Director of Aviation, “We look forward to welcoming new and returning visitors to our beautiful San Francisco Bay Area and know that Bay Area residents appreciate the convenience of using OAK combined with the nonstop access to Bellingham and the Pacific Northwest region that Southwest uniquely provides.”
