The Naples Airport Authority Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a proclamation recognizing the outstanding contributions of Robinson Aviation Inc. in staffing the Naples Air Traffic Control Tower.
COVID-19 has had profound impacts on the aviation industry and those impacts extend to the air traffic controllers dedicated to ensuring that every plane gets safely from departure to destination.
“I would like to recognize the RVA staff at the tower, under the leadership of Air Traffic Manager Stacey Nichols, who have taken every possible precaution to keep the controllers safe,” said Chris Rozansky, Naples Airport Authority executive director. “Their diligent efforts have resulted in no loss of service or reduction in safety at the Naples Airport.”
RVA has staffed the Naples Air Traffic Tower for over 25 years and has a strong partnership with the Naples Airport Authority, as well as the pilots who rely on their service and professionalism to take off and land safely.
“We are proud of our air traffic control tower team at the Naples Airport. Our dedicated staff works diligently alongside their FAA partners to provide quality air traffic services. Our goal is to ensure aircraft operate safely and efficiently. At Naples, this requires the airport sponsor, air traffic control and the pilots to work together as a team,” said Jim Slate, vice president of the FAA Contract Tower Program, Robinson Aviation Inc. “We appreciate the support we have received from the airport’s management and staff during the pandemic, and look forward to continuing our positive relationship in the years ahead.”
Naples Airport is ideally located within minutes of downtown Naples, the Gulf of Mexico and I-75, connecting people to the Paradise Coast through an exceptional airport experience. The airport serviced 104,479 annual operations in the last fiscal year, while being an engaged, responsive partner to the community. Home to flight schools, air charter operators, car rental agencies, and corporate aviation and non-aviation businesses, the airport is also a central location for public services, including fire/rescue services, mosquito control, the Collier County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and other community services.
All funds used for the airport’s operation, maintenance and improvements are generated from activities at the airport or federal and state grants from aviation-related user fees. The airport receives no local tax dollars. The Florida Department of Transportation values the airport’s annual economic impact to the community at more than $440 million.
