The connection between Central Florida and South America has been re-established. Avianca resumed its non-stop flights from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Bogota, Colombia this afternoon. This is the first international service to South America to return to MCO since COVID-19 travel restrictions were enacted earlier in the year.
The inbound flight from El Dorado International Airport (BOG) arrived at 2:30 p.m. and was welcomed back with a water salute from the MCO fire rescue department. Avianca’s non-stop service will initially consist of twice weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays. From Dec. 1 through Jan. 31, the frequency will be expanded to four days a week with the addition of Monday and Thursday flights.
Avianca will operate A319 aircraft in a two-class configuration. Business Class will feature 12 seats along with 108 Economy seats.
Passengers will be able to enjoy multiple connection possibilities among the destinations that Avianca operates directly or through interline and/or code-share agreements, including direct connections to Brazil and Ecuador.
With more than 100,000 Colombians living in the MCO catchment area, the Colombian demographic is the third largest Hispanic/Latino population in the Central Florida area.
