Colorado Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division Named Recipient of the 2019 ACC Agency Best Practices Awards

The Airport Consultants Council is pleased to announce the selection of the Colorado Division of Aeronautics have for the 2019 ACC Agency Best Practices Award.

 The Airport Consultants Council is pleased to announce the selection of the Colorado Division of Aeronautics for the 2019 ACC Agency Best Practices Award. They have been recognized for their innovative culture and commitment to supporting their airports in ways that are benefiting the entire industry. Colorado Division of Aeronautics have have implemented four key programs that propelled their airports to the forefront of innovation:

  • Airport Internship Program: Partners with airports to support internship education programs. Grants provided to participating airports cover up to 50 percent of a typical internship salary. Airport management internships support aviation education.
  • GA Airport Sustainability Toolkit: Partnered with FAA to create a toolkit that allows airports to develop a customizable and no-cost Sustainability Program, addressing environmental, as well as social, operational and financial sustainability.
  • Remote Air Traffic Control Tower Program: Partnered with FAA to develop and test this leading-edge technology. Unique to this program is the combination of visual and radar/track-based data.
  • DEN Surplus Airport Equipment Program: Partners with Denver International Airport (DEN) to coordinate and administer an annual sale of DEN’s used airport equipment (snow plows, snow blowers, dump trucks).

David Ulane, A.A.E., Aeronautics director, accepted the award on behalf of the Colorado Division of Aeronautics at the ACC Airports Technical Workshop Awards Luncheon on August 16. “This recognition reflects highly on our Division and the Colorado Aeronautical Board, and I couldn’t be more proud of this passionate team of dedicated professionals”, Ulane remarked.

The purpose of the ACC Agency Best Practices Award is to draw attention to the government agency individuals who exemplify teamwork, demonstrate understanding of effective stakeholder interface, and exhibit an ability to be flexible and innovative.
