“Bishop Airport puts the fun back in flying, and our new ad campaign highlights some of the top reasons our passengers prefer flying from Flint, over any other airport in the region, to get to and from Southeast Michigan,” stated Airport Director Craig Williams.
The theme, “Flint Bishop Airport, not the only way to fly. Just a better one.” is warmly and humorously presented by “Sid” the skycap. Everything from our inexpensive, convenient parking, to our friendly screening agents, and virtually stress-free environment is highlighted. Not to mention our amazing airline service, where every major U.S. Airline Alliance is available from American, Delta and United, in addition to our ultra-low cost carrier, Allegiant.
This campaign even “tips-its-hat” to the history of the airport. The hilarious television ads feature spokesperson “Sid the Skycap” as portrayed by Oak Park, Michigan comedian and actor, Melvin Bender.
“Sid” was named after Sidney S. Stewart, the aviator and prominent Flint manufacturer, banker and aviation enthusiast who convinced Arthur Giles Bishop, a Flint banker and a Vice-President of General Motors Corporation to donate the original 220 acres of land which became the airport that we fly from today.
Stay tuned to our Facebook Page for a fantastic contest that will start tomorrow to celebrate the arrival of “Sid” at Flint Bishop Airport!
Jim Berline, Ccairman of BERLINE in Royal Oak, Michigan adds, “The development of the new brand campaign for Flint Bishop Airport was a truly collaborative effort between the BERLINE team, the airport management team and Ailevon-Pacific Aviation Consulting. We all felt that Flint Bishop is in a unique position where we can humanize the brand and communicate the extraordinary benefits of Flint Bishop verses the competition. With the use of humor and the creation of our Skycap character a creative strategy evolved that gives the airport a friendly, welcoming personality, and at the same time, communicates its positive attributes. The concept gives us the foundation for a long-term voice in the marketplace.” The commercials were shot and produced by Black Sedan.
