Porter Adds More Flights to MLB

Sept. 25, 2017

Orlando Melbourne International Airport’s (MLB) upgraded customs facility will soon be welcoming thousands of more Canadian visitors to the region thanks to an announcement Sept. 22, from Porter Airlines.  In addition to the seasonal nonstop flights from Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ), Porter said that it is adding nonstop flights from Canada’s Ottawa (YOW) and Windsor (YQG) airports.  The new flights commence Dec. 16, and run through March 31.  The Toronto flights continue through April 7.

The Sunshine State’s sunny beaches, tropical breezes and world-class theme parks are attractive to cold-weary Canadian travelers, and the airport’s close proximity to Port Canaveral, one of the most popular cruise ports in the world.

Porter opened the Orlando Melbourne route two years ago and has expanded annually with mid-week and multiple flights to meet passenger demand.  “This airport is committed to growing international flights,” said Greg Donovan, A.A.E., airport executive director.  “We have found the perfect partner with Porter Airlines and provide them with the most technologically-advanced entry in the United States.  We greet our passengers with sunshine, southern hospitality and a team committed to customer service.”

Porter Airlines is popular with discerning passengers who are extremely loyal to the “flying refined” carrier.  Recognized as one of the world’s Top 20 International Airlines by Condè Nast Traveler, they provide free wine and beer in flight with spacious leather seats and impeccable passenger service.  To book flights, just go to www.FlyPorter.com .

Eric Garvey, executive director of Florida’s Space Coast Office of Tourism, points to the region’s warm weather, convenience to Orlando’s attractions, Port Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center as primary reasons for the growth of passengers.  “Canada is an important tourism market to us.  And once Canadians fly into MLB, they fall in love with our community, beaches and easy access to the best that Florida has to offer.”
