Aug. 9, 2017

Halifax Stanfield passengers will soon be able to experience the atmosphere of a real British Pub without actually leaving the airport. Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) and the Firkin Group of Pubs today announced an agreement to construct the new food and beverage option on the departures level of Halifax Stanfield.

“We are delighted to share the news of this additional dining option,” says Jo-Anne McLean, HIAA Director, Air Service & Terminal Development. “We have received feedback from passengers and visitors that they’d like to have an additional sit down dining option. We’re confident Firkin Pub will be a welcome addition to the airport and we look forward to their opening.”

Firkin Pub will be situated in the space where Legends Nova Scotia is currently located. Legends is operated by HMS Host and the food and beverage concessionaire will be opening a new higher-end restaurant in premium space that has recently been created on the departures level.

Construction of Firkin Pub is scheduled to begin in early in the new year with completion in spring of 2018.

“We are is very excited to bring our home to Halifax Stanfield,” says Larry Isaacs, Director of Marketing, the Firkin Group of Pubs. “The first Firkin Pub opened in Toronto 30 years ago and since that time, Firkin has become known for its home away from home feel. We believe in getting to know our customers and creating a comfortable space to unwind and enjoy an ice cold drink and a hearty meal or just kick back to watch a game on TV.”

The Firkin Group of Pubs is a Canadian owned and operated company. Their menus include both traditional pub fare, like Shepard’s pie, bangers and mash, fish and chips, as well as wraps, sandwiches, salads and other offerings tweaked and adapted to the local community.
