Arconas launched two new products, the inPower Flex 3 and Bernù Aero Lounger, as well as announce a partnership with Amulet Ballistic Barriers, at Passenger Terminal Expo in Amsterdam.
The inPower Flex 3 is a public charging unit featuring the newest USB Type-C technology for adaptive fast charging of personal electronics. The Bernù Aero Lounger is an elongated seating option ergonomically sculpted to provide support over long waiting periods. Arconas has also partnered with Amulet Ballistic Barriers to offer the option of incorporating bullet resistant barriers into their Flyaway tandem seating. These seating and power options expand Arconas’ suite of offerings and add to their position as a single source of furniture for airport clients.
inPower Flex 3
The inPower Flex 3 is the third generation of Arconas’ public charging solution for airport clients. Passengers can use the power access from a seated position to recharge their personal electronics, from cell phones to laptops, while waiting for their flight. The inPower Flex 3 has been designed with USB Type-C ports, the newest standard in USB charging, as well as two AC receptacles. USB Type-C is the fastest type of USB available and has already been adopted by leading tech brands Apple, Google, LG, HTC, Sony, Samsung and Black Berry for all new personal electronics entering the market. USB Type-C can charge any type of mobile devices, from cell phones to laptops, without an AC adapter. Its reversible plug makes it simpler and easier to use, and it’s adaptive fast charging allows one cable to work on a wide range of devices and accessories. The module works with your device to optimize charging speed and automatically adjusts to universal charging voltages, making it much easier for international travelers to charge their electronics. The inPower™ Flex 3 can charge two laptops at the same time at their full charging rate.

The inPower Flex 3 has a new design, featuring an all-black aluminum casing that blends into public spaces and complements polished aluminum seating components. Its casing will stand up to impact from passengers and facility equipment.
The inPower Flex 3 is UL-rated, and is designed with technology that limits currents, shuts down the unit within 120 ms if there is a ground-short, and shield’s passenger’s electronics from power surges. The unit also has tamper resistant shutters that block access to live contacts unless a complete plug is inserted into the receptacle.
inPower flex 3 also distributes power to many passengers from one wall outlet. The new module can be attached to any existing model of Arconas beam seating and tables, as well as any existing beam seating style an airport may already have using a custom bracket. inPower Flex 3 is also compatible with the previous version, which allows facilities to easily upgrade to the new unit using the same bracket. The unit is available in several international models.
Bernù Aero Lounger
The Bernù Aero Lounger is an addition to Arconas’ best-selling Bernù Aero series beam mounted tandem seating line. The seat’s contoured metal profile, high-back, footrest and plush padding provide exceptional comfort and durability for high-traffic waiting areas, allowing passengers to lounge and relax. Based on a modular ‘pin’ system, the Bernù Aero Lounger can be added to any Bernù Aero tandem seating configuration, allowing for maximum versatility.
Amulet Ballistic Barriers
Arconas has entered into an alliance for the airport furniture market with Amulet Protective Technologies. Arconas has developed the option to seamlessly integrate Amulet’s ballistic barrier technology directly into its Flyaway seating series.
Amulet can invisibly transform a standard Flyaway unit into a “safe haven” in the event of an active shooting, since it has been shown that people instinctively duck and cover in a crisis situation. Amulet technology is invisible to the public and its design works in conjunction with human behavior during gun violence to protect bystanders and first responders.
“We recognize the challenges faced by airports to keep their passengers safe in the event of a crisis. Integrating Amulet ballistic barriers with existing furniture is a discrete way of adding security options to protect the public and first responders, as well as giving peace of mind to airport facility operators,” states Lynn Gordon, vice president of airport solutions.
This Amulet ballistic barrier solution is compliant and has been tested to NIJ (National Institute of Justice) 0108.01 Level IIIA – handgun threats (9mm & 44mag).
Amulet ballistic barrier technology is available as an option for new and existing flyaway seating.
