KCI Passengers up 6.6 Percent in November

The city of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that 926,293 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in November, a 6.6 percent increase from November 2015. For the year to date, total passengers in and out total 10,144,305, up 5.4 percent. November passenger boardings were up 7.3 percent, with a total of 463,322. For the year to date, boardings are 5,070,464, up 5.5 percent.

“Our 31st consecutive month of traffic growth was highlighted by a very smooth Thanksgiving travel period,” said Kansas City Director of Aviation Pat Klein. “Low fares and multiple flight options continue to make Kansas City International Airport the preferred gateway for travelers to and from the four-state region.”

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were up 16.7 percent in November with a total of 17.2 million pounds handled, and 190 million pounds handled year to date, up 10.1 percent. Air freight handled at KCI during November amounted to 16.6 million pounds, which represents a year-over-year increase of 17.5 percent. Year to date, air freight is up 11.1 percent with a total of 184.3 million pounds handled.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for November was 176. Service was offered to 45 nonstop markets. There was an average of 39,583 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 7 daily departures for November.
