Uber drivers will be able to pick up passengers at Montréal–Trudeau airport as of Dec. 12, following the conclusion of a business agreement between Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) and the online transportation company.
ADM had earlier demanded that Uber not activate its application at the Montréal–Trudeau terminal as long as the service had not been regulated by the Government of Québec. Under the agreement between the Québec Minister of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Transportation Electrification and Uber Canada Inc., the company will be able to offer its services at the airport until October.
“In this way, ADM wants to provide a variety of transportation services to meet growing demand from travellers, particularly for the use of new technologies,” said Charles A Gratton, vice president, real estate and commercial services, ADM. “Uber is present at more than 50 airports in North America and has agreements with some airlines.”
Uber drivers must use a waiting area located outside the airport perimeter. Passengers will embark at Door 6 on the departures level.
Taxi permit holders
Direct embarking of passengers at the professional pickup area on the arrivals level will remain exclusive to taxis holding airport permits.
On Nov. 14, taxi drivers who hold an airport permit received an extension of their permit so that it will be valid until April 30.
