flightSpeak Launches CheckPoint, an Airport Security Wait Time Feature to Save Travelers Precious Time and Energy

Nov. 17, 2016

On Nov. 15, flightSpeak, the most comprehensive global airport information mobile app for business and leisure travelers, introduced a new security wait time feature named CheckPoint, which provides estimated wait and screening times for security checkpoints at the top 100 busiest airports worldwide. Coming just in time for the busy holiday travel season, this new feature is designed to help passengers better anticipate security line delays that might cause them to miss flights, so they can enjoy a more efficient, less stressful airport travel experience.

Demand for domestic and international air travel in 2016 has surged by more than five percent since just last year. During U.S. peak travel periods, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has worked hard to reduce security line wait times for passengers through increased staffing and partnerships with airports and airlines. flightSpeak aims to assist passengers by providing advance notice so they can arrive at the airport with enough time to clear potentially lengthy security lines.

flightSpeak’s CheckPoint feature leverages a combination of flight volumes, weather information, and machine learning to improve wait time estimation accuracy. In addition to its proprietary approach, the app enables passengers to upload their own security wait times, providing a more current and constantly updated estimate based on the real-world experience of travelers. flightSpeak will initially provide CheckPoint for the largest 50 U.S. airports, and will continue the rollout to the 300 global airports currently represented on the app.

“With huge crowds, potential bad weather and eager families traveling with young children, holiday travel can be unpredictable and stressful,” said Leo Osahor, Founder and CEO of flightSpeak. “We want to help travelers by providing them with more certainty about what to expect when they reach airport security lines and useful information about what they can do at the airport once they get past them.”

Available for free on iOS and Android mobile devices, the flightSpeak app has already helped thousands of people take advantage of airport services and amenities around the globe. From information about Wi-Fi availability to restaurant ratings and even fun activities for parents to do with their kids, flightSpeak is an easy to use mobile guide for travelers to quickly access a wide variety of airport information, and share their own experiences and tips with other travelers. With information for more than 300 global airports, getting the most out of any visit to the airport has never been easier or more enjoyable.
