Chicago's Airports Receive Top Honors from ACI-NA for Concessions Marketing
The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) was recently recognized by Airports Council International - North America (ACI-NA) with awards for its collaboration with concessionaires to create the "Airport Restaurant Week" promotional campaign at O'Hare and Midway International Airports and for offering creative giveaway items to promote its concessions programs.
The CDA received the First Place award in the "Partnering with Concessionaires/Service Providers" category and two Honorable Mention awards for the "Special Events" and "Promotional Items" categories in ACI-NA's 2016 Excellence in Airport Marketing, Communications, and Customer Service Contest. With more than 320 entries in 19 categories, ACI-NA's annual awards recognize the work, talent and creativity within the marketing, communications and customer service field of the airport industry.
"I want to thank ACI-NA for recognizing our efforts to showcase Chicago's world-class dining scene at O'Hare and Midway International Airports and to promote our award-winning concessions program," said Ginger S. Evans, commissioner, CDA. "Our team at the CDA and all of our concessionaires work hard to provide great service, delicious cuisine and an enjoyable experience to millions of travelers who dine at Chicago's airports."
The CDA's first place "Partnering with Concessionaires" award was for "Airport Restaurant Week" - a two-week long celebration of Chicago's culinary scene at O'Hare that featured live cooking demonstrations, limited-time menu offerings at restaurants, special discounts on food and beverage items and the first-ever "Ticket to Taste" event which provided a unique opportunity for the general public to dine and shop past security at O'Hare International Terminal 5.
"Airport Restaurant Week" at Midway received an Honorable Mention. The spoon sets and cutting boards made from renewable bamboo that were given to passengers at the airports during "Airport Restaurant Week" also received an Honorable Mention.
