Caring For Others Inc., an international human services organization dedicated to eradicating poverty, has honored Dwight H. Pullen, Jr. with its Humanitarian of Hope award.

Pullen served on the Caring For Others board for four years before relocating to Denver, where he is a senior vice president and national director of aviation and leads all marketing, sales and strategy for Skanska USA Building’s Aviation Center of Excellence.

“Dwight has been a tireless champion of our mission,” said Eslene Richmond-Shockley, President and CEO of Caring For Others. “He’s an asset to his community and has truly changed lives through his ongoing service.”

Based in Atlanta, Caring For Others is a human services organization established in 2001 to provide meaningful improvement in quality of life and economic opportunity for low-income individuals and families. Focusing on eliminating poverty through feeding, educating, clothing and housing low-income individuals and families, the organization has assisted more than 78,000 people in the United States and 12,000 in other countries. Its scope in the United States reaches from Atlanta to the Southeast, Gulf Coast and West Coast, and internationally to Belize, Guyana, Nigeria, Antigua and the Philippines.

Its annual Humanitarian of Hope Award recognizes individuals who embody the organization’s spirit of service and passion for empowering those in need. Previous honorees include Kwanza Hall, member of the Atlanta City Council; Joe Folz, general counsel and secretary of Porsche Cars North America Inc.; and Timothy Tew, owner of Tew Galleries.

“I am impassioned by the work of Caring For Others and inspired by Eslene Richmond-Shockley, who is breaking the cycle of hunger, homelessness, and poverty in our country and abroad,” said Pullen. “Receiving this prestigious award only renews my commitment to lending a hand to individuals struggling for shared prosperity.”

Pullen was honored at the group’s “Art of Nature” gala event held at the Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta.
