HMSHost’s Airport Restaurant Month Returns in October, Delivering a Seasonal Culinary Experience for Travelers

Autumn is in the air and Airport Restaurant Month by HMSHost is now returning with an expanded, seasonally-focused menu full of new, bold flavors. This October, at HMSHost-operated restaurants in dozens of airports across North America, travelers will be able to celebrate Airport Restaurant Month, HMSHost’s version of the popular street-side Restaurant Week. Airport Restaurant Month offers an unmatched culinary experience for travelers with vibrant seasonal dishes that are expertly matched with wine pairings to deliver an elevated airport experience.

New during this fifth launch of the initiative, for each Airport Restaurant Month dish sold at participating airport restaurant locations in the United States from October 1 to October 31, 2016, HMSHost (Host International, Inc.) will donate $1 to HMSHost Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to fight poverty with food, shelter, education and workforce development opportunities by directing its charitable investments to organizations that are creating stronger, viable communities.

“Airport Restaurant Month is just one example of how HMSHost offers travelers unique dining experiences and culinary events in the airport. Our chefs were inspired with fall ingredients resulting in creative menus with broad appeal,” said HMSHost Vice President of Marketing Atousa Ghoreichi. “Not only can guests enjoy innovative dining, they will also have the opportunity to give back to a great cause with the HMSHost Foundation.”

To help expedite the dining experience for busy travelers, HMSHost’s award-winning culinary team created a single-plated Chef’s Tasting Menu designed specifically with a traveler’s need for speed of service in mind. Each restaurant’s menu is customized and each dish beautifully presented just like you would find with street-side dining. This October’s Airport Restaurant Month menu was expanded with additional dishes to appeal to more travelers; unique seasonally inspired flatbreads, burgers, and sandwiches were added to complement entrée options.

While each location’s main dishes and accompaniments vary, a sample of the all-day dining options on the tasting menu include:

  • Flatbreads such as the Grilled Chicken & Apple or the Roasted Butternut Squash served with an apple pecan salad featuring baby kale, cranberries, apples, toasted pecans, feta, and honey maple dressing.
  • Sandwiches such as the Short Rib Grilled Cheese or the Shrimp Roll served with seasoned sweet potato fries, pickled vegetables, and an apple pecan salad.
  • Premium beef burgers such as the Bacon Spinach Stack or the BBQ Short Rib Stack served with seasoned sweet potato fries, pickled vegetables, and an apple pecan salad.
  • Entrées such as the Pan Roasted Salmon or the Rosemary Skewered Shrimp served with an apple pecan salad, roasted Brussels sprouts & butternut squash, and the chef’s daily featured potato.

While feasting on these savory seasonal dishes, HMSHost’s sommeliers have expertly matched suggested wines with each dish as a fun, creative way to enhance your dining experience. These wine suggestions are intended to balance the flavor characteristics of each dish with the flavor profile of each wine creating the perfect pairing.
