ATL: Airport Reminds Travelers to Arrive Early, Stay Informed
With travel industry experts projecting an especially robust Memorial Day, officials at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) remind guests to arrive early at the world’s most traveled airport.
“We have worked closely with our airline partners and the TSA ahead of the busy holiday weekend to ensure our guests have a pleasant and efficient experience at Hartsfield-Jackson,” interim Airport General Manager Roosevelt Council Jr. said today. “Extra staff and earlier start times for security lane openings will help reduce wait times, but passengers should still arrive in plenty of time.”
AAA projects more than 38 million people will travel over the holiday weekend, making it the second-highest Memorial Day travel volume on record. Pre-booking forecasts predict TSA officers may screen more than 434,000 passengers at ATL during the holiday period. Historically, Friday and Tuesday are the busiest travel days over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Friday, May 27, TSA screeners expect to process nearly 82,000 passengers at ATL, and more than 74,000 passengers are expected to be screened at ATL on Tuesday, May 31.
Airport officials encourage travelers to arrive at ATL two hours before domestic flight departure times. Travelers are also urged to download the iFlyATL mobile app or visit www.atlanta-airport.com for the most current information on parking, TSA wait times and departure information.
