Sep. 13—A snake spotted at the San José Mineta International Airport was removed from the airport Wednesday morning, airport officials said.
The garter snake was found and contained in the Terminal B baggage claim area around 9 p.m. Tuesday, said airport spokesperson Keonnis Taylor. She said the airport's maintenance team and a contractor removed the snake on Wednesday morning.
"Some varieties of small snakes are native to the area and can make their way into open public spaces," Taylor said in an email.
Garter snakes are not venomous.
