Spirit Airlines will offer more flights this fall, Tampa International Airport announced Wednesday.
The low-budget carrier is resuming seven seasonal routes and adding four new connections to Charlotte, N.C., Charleston, S.C. plus Norfolk and Richmond Va., according to a press release.
Nonstop flights between Tampa and Charlotte will begin Oct. 5 and will operate daily. The connections starting on Nov. 15 to Charleston, Norfolk and Richmond will fly four times a week.
The routes that are returning will connect Tampa to Boston, Dallas and Indianapolis by Oct. 5, while Houston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Columbus, Ohio, will restart Nov. 15.
When all the flights are operating, Spirit Airlines will become the second-largest carrier at Tampa International with 21 routes, the airport said. The largest is Southwest Airlines with 38 routes.
“Our friends at Spirit recently celebrated their 30th anniversary with us, and we’re thrilled to see this ultra-low-cost carrier now adding so many great destinations,” said Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano in a statement. “We look forward to their continued growth and success here in Tampa Bay, as we know these new and resuming routes will be popular with our travelers.”
