1 Person Injured After Small Plane Goes off Runway at Pa. Airport
A woman was injured after the small plane she was piloting went off the runway at the Allegheny County Airport, according to multiple media reports.
First responders arrived at the airport in West Mifflin at about 3:22 p.m. Monday.
The plane, a Piper Cherokee, went off the main runway and over a small hillside, according to WTAE. The pilot was the only person on the plane. Medics extracted her from the plane and took her to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“As you know, safety and security are always the top priority at the Allegheny County Airport Authority and we will work with our government and business partners to determine exactly what caused this incident and how it may be possibly prevented in the future,” Matt Neistein of the Allegheny County Airport Authority said in a statement, according to WPXI.
The plane is part of the airport’s flight school, WTAE reported, and is owned by ATP TAA LLC out of Wilmington, Delaware.
