Airports in Southern Russia Remain Closed as Moscow's War Continues

April 12, 2022

Moscow — The Russian authorities have extended flight bans in southern Russia, with 11 airports due to remain closed until April 19, the Rosaviatsiya aviation authority said.

Airports in the Black Sea resort of Anapa, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar and Belgorod are all affected by the measure.

The airports in Gelendzhik, Voronezh and Simferopol in Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, are also due to remain shut for the time being.

The bans, which initially were due to end on Wednesday, have been repeatedly extended as Russia's bombardment of its neighbour continues, now targeting Ukraine's eastern and southern regions.
