Jun. 7—The Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton International Airport has received $2.38 million from the federal COVID-19 relief package enacted in December 2020, U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-8, Moosic, announced Monday.
The Federal Aviation Administration grant can pay for costs related to operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitation, janitorial services and combating the spread of pathogens, according to a news release from Cartwright's office.
The relief passed as part of the government funding omnibus spending bill and provides almost $2 billion for U.S. airports struggling to recover from the pandemic.
