Iran's Saqqez Airport to be Commissioned

Nov. 3—The Saqqez city airport in the Kurdistan Province (western Iran) will be commissioned fully by the end of 9th month of next Iranian year ( December 21, 2021), the Head of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC) Siavash Amir Mokri said, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

The official emphasized the operations are carried out to extent and restore the runway in the airport.

Amir Mokri added the construction of the apron will be completed by the end of 3rd month of next Iranian year ( June 21, 2021).

" Saqqez Airport is one of the main airports on the agenda of the IAC," he noted.

The project on fully commissioning of Iran's Saqqez airport was put on the agenda in 2016. Three Iranian contractor companies are currently operating on the construction of the airport.

The Saqqez County is the second most populous county in Iran's Kurdistan Province with a population of more than 226,000.
