One part of The Bahamas pummeled by Hurricane Dorian three months ago has signaled that it's ready to once again welcome the world.
The first commercial international flight out of Leonard M. Thompson International Airport in Marsh Harbour will be received by Palm Beach International Airport on Friday morning, said Lacy Larson, PBIA marketing director. The flight will arrive in West Palm Beach around 11:20 a.m.
The airline will start flying between West Palm Beach and Marsh Harbour four times a week: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Flights to West Palm Beach will depart at 10:20 a.m. and arrive an hour later, while flights to Marsh Harbour will depart from PBIA at 12:20 p.m.
Abaco and Grand Bahama Islands were the two worst-hit parts of The Bahamas when Dorian sat overhead for nearly two days in September.
Grand Bahama welcomed its first international flight on Nov. 26, according to the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism & Aviation.
A Bahamasair flight carrying high school basketball teams from Tennessee arrived for the 21st Annual Tabernacle Falcons Thanksgiving Basketball Classic.
