Abu Dhabi International Airport the World's First Airport to Launch 'GoSleep' Sleeping Pods
Dubai, May 5 -- Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) today announced an exclusive "world first" with the introduction of the 'GoSleep' sleeping pods at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH).
The 'GoSleep' is the latest, state of the art chair that converts into a private flat bed. Ten sleeping pods have now been installed in Terminal 3 and in the Al Dhabi Lounge in Terminal 1 at Abu Dhabi International Airport, with a further 35 on order for installation later this year. The stylish, Finnish designed sleeping pods are easy-to-operate and feature a partial or fully enclosed sliding shade that isolates the customer from noise, light and crowds. After an initial launch phase, the chairs will be upgraded to include Internet access, will include secure storage for luggage and other valuables, and will allow customers to charge their laptops, mobile telephones, and other electronic devices. Passengers will be able to use the chairs at a rate of AED 45/hour using a credit card. Commenting on this initiative, Mohammed Al Bulooki, Chief Commercial Officer of ADAC, said: "Abu Dhabi Airports Company continually strives to enhance the experience of passengers travelling to, from or via Abu Dhabi International Airport. The introduction of 'GoSleep' sleeping pods is another step towards exceeding customers' expectations and delivering world-class levels of service. Abu Dhabi Airports Company is proud that it is the first airport in the world to have secured an agreement to install the very latest passenger experience that embraces the latest technology." "The instalment of these innovative new convertible chairs highlights ADAC's commitment to using the latest technologies to improve airport facilities, ensuring that passengers have the best experience whilst visiting Abu Dhabi International Airport." Al Bulooki continued: "In 2012 Abu Dhabi Airports Company was awarded the Skytrax 4* rating, becoming the first and only airport in the Middle East to have achieved this, and just last month, the Capital's airport was named 'the Best Airport in the Middle East' by Airport Council International (ACI). ADAC will continue to implement new initiatives, combining great design with technological advances, to ensure that our passengers experience world class levels of service and comfort whilst visiting the Capital's gateway to the world." Passengers interested in using the new chairs can pay hourly using a credit card. The airport has plans to further increase the number of chairs throughout the airport terminals in the coming months.
