Mark Lobel, IIDA, has rejoined HNTB Corporation as senior project manager for aviation architecture. Lobel is based in Dallas and works with clients nationwide, including Austin–Bergstrom International Airport.
Over the last two decades, Lobel has worked on high-profile projects at large airports, both in the United States and internationally, to help improve the travel experience for passengers through enhanced shopping, dining and entertainment options while seeking creative ways for airports to generate additional non-aviation revenues. His past projects include concessions master planning and development of tenant design criteria for incoming concessionaires for the Dallas Love Field Airport Modernization Program; overseeing commercial planning of the Terminal Renovation and Improvement Program at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport; and development of a concessions master plan for a new terminal at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou, China.

Lobel returns to HNTB after previously serving in a similar role from 2017 to 2019. Prior to rejoining HNTB, he worked for another architecture and engineering firm providing counsel on revenue enhancement and aviation customer experience. He earned both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in architecture from Tulane University.
HNTB’s many signature architecture projects include serving as architect of record for Las Vegas Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium which opened in 2020; architect of record for the new South Terminal C, Phase 1, at Orlando International Airport; lead designer, principal architect/engineer of record for expansion of Concourses A and B at Denver International Airport; lead architectural designer for the Automated People Mover stations and maintenance facility at Los Angeles International Airport; and lead designer and architect and engineer of record for a main terminal curbside expansion, Central Utility Plant and new International Terminal Automated People Mover Station at Tampa International Airport.
The firm also served as lead architect of record and designer of Levi’s Stadium, the first new construction NFL stadium to achieve LEED Gold certification, and stadium design architect for Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio, new home venue for Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew.
