Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO) is applauding the decision by Hill International, a global management consulting firm specializing in construction management, to formally open a Denver office as part of its expansion throughout the Rocky Mountain West.
With more than 100 offices in 39 countries, Hill International is at its core an infrastructure firm, managing projects for rail and transit, aviation, roads and highways, and various public sector utilities and facilities. With corporate headquarters in Philadelphia, the firm recently opened local offices at 1801 Broadway.
“Denver is pleased to welcome Hill International’s office to our community,” said Mayor Michael B. Hancock. “It’s a great win for Denver to gain a like-minded partner who shares our goals of maximizing the participation of small and disadvantaged firms as well as investing time to nurture youth and tomorrow’s professionals who are exploring the many opportunities in construction management.”
“Our recruitment plans will largely require highly skilled and certified professionals, which we hope to recruit from the local area as well as transferring in our experts from across the U.S. to build Denver into a regional full-service operation,” said, Hill International President, Americas Michael B. Smith. “We have wanted to formalize our presence in Denver for a long time.”
Hill First Vice President J.P. Villamizar will oversee the Denver office. “Hill has a long history of helping to deliver projects in the region, especially infrastructure and federal assignments. Our past and present clients include the Regional Transportation District, Denver International Airport, Colorado State University, and the General Service Administration’s Region 8, Villamizar said. Hill has also supported private sector projects in this area, including multiple facilities for The Aerospace Corporation.
Given the region’s ongoing growth and the related need for new and expanded transportation and utility infrastructure, along with new schools, libraries, public safety facilities, and other building types, Hill expects to grow its Denver-area business exponentially in the years ahead.
“We look forward to teaming with local partners in the architecture, engineering, and construction sectors, especially with the region’s many promising certified minority- and women-owned firms. Hill creates internship programs for students interested in the construction management field, and we are already supporting community organizations that make Denver such a vibrant place to live and work,” Villamizar added.
